  • Laboratories

     

    The Master’s Degree in Accounting is held at the facilities of the Institute of Economics, Administrative and Accounting Sciences (ICEAC), at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), located in Building 4, Carreiros Campus.

    The Program counts with two classrooms, equipped with air conditioning, white board, microcomputer, data-show, and internet access. Each room has the capacity for 45 students seated.

    The Program Service Office also operates at Building 4, Carreiros Campus, next to the Coordination Office. There is also a Research Laboratory, which is a tool of integration among master’s and undergraduate students, particularly those granted with research initiation scholarships.

    Two staff members are found in the Service Office, and they give support also to other graduate programs of the Institute (ICEAC). In addition, the Program has the support of the Pro-Rectory of Research and Graduate Studies, located at the University Pro-Rectories Building, which is just across from Building 4.

    The laboratory is equipped with computers, furniture, air conditioning, and a minibar. The facility is used by the Group of Study, Research and Teaching in Accounting (GEPECON) and by the Center for Research and Extension/Outreach in Accounting and Finance (NUPECOF). There is a room with computers for shared use by scholarship students and a place for group meetings, project and research discussions, as well as student advisory. This structure is next to the Coordination Office and in front of the Service Office.

    There are also two auditoriums (rooms 4110 and 4116), each of which has a capacity for 100 people seated, and a mini-auditorium with a capacity for 30 people seated. The auditoriums have good natural and artificial lighting with an air conditioning system. They also have adequate audiovisual resources for the activities to be developed by the Program and are located in Building 4, Carreiros Campus.

    The offices of all the faculty of the Master’s Program in Accounting are also equipped with individual microcomputers with internet access, printer, and more recently with air conditioning. The rooms are located in the Annex of Building 4.

  • Library

     

    FURG has a Central Library located in the Carreiros Campus and 7 (seven) Sectorial Libraries. The facilities of the Central Library include individual study rooms and a collective room for consultations. The library collection can be consulted on the internet. The journals of the main areas of knowledge are available for local consultation. The library provides users with access to the following databases: (a) CAPES Portal of Journals: http://www.periodicos.capes.gov.br; (b) ABNT Collection: http://www.abntcolecao.com.br; (c) FURG Portal of Scientific Journals: http://www.seer.furg.br/ojs/index.php; d) FURG Dissertations and Theses Digital Database: http://bdtd.furg.br/; (e) Virtual Health Library - http://regional.bvsalud.org; and (f) FURG Institutional Database: http://repositorio.furg.br.

    The FURG Library is divided into eight units: (1) Central Library of the Carreiros Campus, (2) Sectorial Library of the Health Academic Area, (3) Sectorial Library of the Graduate Program in Oceanology, (4) Sectorial Library of the Museum Oceanographic, (5) Sectorial Library Green Room Judith Cortesão, (6) Library of the Santo Antônio da Patrulha Campus, (7) Library of the São Lourenço do Sul Campus, and (8) Library of the Santa Vitória do Palmar Campus, all available to the university community. The ARGO System, an online catalog (http://www.argo.furg.br), offers consultation to all the collection. In addition, reservations and renewals of all types of bibliographic material can be made on the FURG System.

    Moreover, the Graduate Program in Accounting has a Journal called SINERGIA (ICEAC/FURG) and a Database, an auxiliary part of ICEAC, located in Building 4, which gathers printed and electronic documents to support teaching, research and extension/outreach activites.

    The collection of FURG Library is maintained through the acquisition of bibliographic material by purchases, donations, and also by the service of exchange of publications between FURG and other national and international institutions.
